Overview

Templates help you define the Data Classes and Queries that make up a Data Store. They allow you to take advantage of work previously done to represent particular types of research data. For example, a certain kind of experiment performed often in your research field may have a template created for it. You can then easily use this template to more efficiently define how the data for your experiment will be stored and accessed. The use of the templates also fosters consistency among the representations used by different labs performing similar research or for different experiments within the same lab.

If you design a Data Store that you feel represents your research data well, and which you think your lab or other labs are likely to find useful in the future, you can also save your Data Store as a template.
