The native format of the Foundational Model of Anatomy is in Protege frames with a MySQL database backend. However, for those that require the FMA in other formats we distribute some alternate formats here. NOTE: the file based formats are NOT recommended if you plan on using Protege.
The FMA in OWL available here was generated with a script written by Natasha Noy at Natational Center for Biomedical Ontologies at Stanford University. It is in OWL full. This form is not amenable to automated reasoning but rather was generated to be in OWL format yet remain as consistent as possible with the original FMA ontology.
