New Browser Versions
There is a document on my Macintosh (Cortex) under the "Browser source"
tree, in the "(prog docs)" folder. Called "how to make...", this document
describes the steps
used for building the application and setting up the scripts for various
configurations. The "Browser source" folder should also contain folders
that serve as examples of the application setup to be included in the
two major types of distributions: CD-ROM and Internet online data access.
The "how to make..." document also describes the setup to be used on the
machines in the HSLIC Macintosh Lab; basically it varies little from
any other versions, except that a command can be added to the
startup script(s) to ask the user for their ID when the program
starts up. This is then saved in the log file and can be used
for analyzing usage patterns that can be correlated with other
data about the individuals, such as their test scores.
Skills I use for this task:
- Mac file & folder maintenance
- knowledge of the Browser software, for testing purposes
- ResEdit utility on the Mac (assumes the ability to not make ANY mistakes)
- C compilers (Metrowerks and/or THINK) for building the application
