UNIFORM ACCESS accounts are those provided for use by University of Washington faculty, staff, and students. The usual procedure for establishing your account is to telnet to one of the general access machines (e.g., homer or saul) and when asked for a user name, type "new" and hit return. The machine will ask several questions and give lots of pertinent information as you go through the process.

You will need either a social security number or a student number to establish an account; this and the other information about your status with the university must be on file with the administration before you can create an account for yourself.

If you're the type who ignores instructions, I have a suggestion: read the instructions about passwords carefully. The constraints are very specific, and you could try a lot of passwords unsuccessfully if you don't choose properly.

The C&C people have provided a brief guide. Use the "PREVIOUS" and "NEXT" buttons on those pages to view related information.
