Physiology: Informatics Assignment A. Read the following papers Hunter 2003, "Integration from Proteins to Organs: the Physiome Project". Gennari 2007, "Integration of multi-scale biosimulation models via light-weight semantics" B. Skim the following paper only in enough detail to be able to answer the questions below. You do not need to understand the detailed equations. Neal 2007, "Subject-specific model estimation of cardiac output and blood volume during hemorrrhage" C. Provide written answers to the following questions, to be turned in prior to the Wed class, as per these instructions. These questions are based on the papers assigned above. 1. What is the physiome project? 2. What is meant by the term "continuum models" in the Hunter paper, and how is this concept used in simulating organ function? 3. What are the two variables predicted by the model in the Neal paper, and why might one of them be useful for predicting the onset of death? 4. What is the expected benefit of the modeling approach taken in the Neal paper for triage situations (ie deciding which patient should be attended to next in a trauma scenario). 5. What is an ApplModel ontology? 6. How will the ApplModel framework facilitate the merging of two or more separate biosimulation models of the type described in the Neal paper?
